Job Titles

For whatever reason, I like thinking of different job titles that defy the typical “manager”, “VP”, “staff”, etc. Maybe it was my obsession with the (hip) culture of the internet boom or the fact that I think org charts are dumb? I don’t know. Anyway here are a couple that I’ve thought of that I would love to answer with when asked, “what do you do for a living?”

Operations Maven / Creative Sage / Director of Possibilities / Fiscal Czar / Sinecure / Right Hand Man / Information Jockey

What else am I missing? What are some of the real, but ridiculous job titles out there? Comment away.

And, how did I forget to put "savant" in there?

I like Director of Corporate Consciousness.

I also think there should be a Corporate Jester or People Pleaser (eg, HR).

Josh, cool idea for a post. There definitely are a lot of job titles out there and I really don't like conventional titles. I like to think that cool titles go with cool, funky, hip companies. I work at a startup (in tech) where we have Community Evangelists as one of our titles, when working with our community and users.

I used to live in Vermont where I worked at Seventh Generation, the nations leading brand of environmentally friendly household products. My boss was "Director of Corporate Consciousness," pretty good huh? Ben and Jerry's is also in Vermont and an example of one of their titles boast, "Primal Ice Cream Therapist."

I would say that when I hear these unique job titles, my interest is piqued and I know the company is a place I want to learn more of or be a part of!
