Bo Jackson is on the same level as Chuck Norris, but all of it is true.

The Detroit Tigers Old English D logo means a number of things to me, but these three lines really capture everything you need to know about The D.

We deal with the bad.

We celebrate the good.

And we work hard.

But then, starting from a small burst of applause, a roaring standing ovation. Sparky was on the field. Everything stopped. Players running sprints in the outfield turned around and ran to Sparky. Broadcasters, umpires, opposing players. There was the guy who loved baseball, and the city who loved him for the life he’d brought it. The ballpark felt like home again.

I’ve told people the last 6 or so years about how Detroit is a great place. There’s so much potential there and it has so much to offer. Seems Johnny Damon feels the same way about Detroit as I do. Damon is exactly the sort of player I want in a Detroit Tigers uniform

I’ve been a huge fan of Under Armour’s Performance Grey clothing. The look, feel and performance are right in line with my needs. Now, it appears they’re offering a limited edition Legend Grey as used by a few college baseball teams. Love this. It gives that vintage feel. I’d love to see the Detroit Tigers or Ohio University Bobcats in this.

I read Moneyball, but didn’t remember that there was a bit about judging a player by the shape of his butt. Apparently, (some) baseball scouts believe that if a player has a flat butt, that player will not be able to add “power” weight. So, when judging the future success of a baseball player, it may make sense to look at his butt. Not exactly the stats-based approach that’s been en vogue.

“You don’t see a lot of good power hitters or good pitchers that generate arm speed that don’t have a good, high butt on them,” Showalter said on ESPN’s Baseball Tonight. And who, according to Showalter, best exemplifies high-buttedness? Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee. “I don’t want to say he’s got a perfect butt, but when I look at it I say, Wow.”
