Ira Glass used to get drunk to buy clothes.
Then I quickly throw on some clothes—the same outfit every day, pretty much. It’s just… I hate shopping because I hate myself and I don’t know what clothes to wear. And I get into an existential crisis when I have to choose clothes because I think “Well who am I, that I would wear this shirt rather than this one.” I’m not proud of that… There was a period about 10 years ago where I would have to get drunk in order to buy clothes.
Style is more character than clothes, more attitude than affluence. It’s you making visible your inner self. So forget what you learned about appearance not counting; you can no longer afford to be without style.”
When I’m not wearing blue (shirts), I choose pink.
pink shirts are versatile and easy to match
I aim for a similar style/vibe, just never been period specific.
We have a ’60s West Coast preppy surf vibe.
It’s my favorite week of the year: Masters week. I love the golf, the tournament, the tradition, the course and the clothing. I’ve often wondered why guys don’t plan their wardrobes a bit better to match with the green jacket?
This year, one of my favorite golf brands, Travis Mathew, has released Bubba Watson’s kit and it’s — by far – my favorite of all time. All white. “Reinventing the Classics“. Part SoCal, part country club. It’s perfect. It matches green. And, in an unprecidented move, Bubba is wearing it all week.
Bold, but traditional. I like it.
Levi’s according to Stephen Colbert.
I’ve always been a big fan of Levi’s. They bring class to denim. After all, what are button flies, but a dress shirt for your crotch?
The only way I am able to get up in the morning is to have a uniform. (How else would I be able to make a decision on what to wear?)
A uniform makes like much easier. Waking up and not obsessing thinking about what you’re wearing is why I wear a blue-ish shirt and grey/khaki pants daily.
Blue and grey is a color combination a guy can seldom go wrong with. Pair a navy sport coat with some well-tailored grey trousers and you’re golden in just about every situation that doesn’t require black tie or tails. You can do blue and grey in so many different ways don’t don’t worry about feeling too repetitive.
I pretty much only wear (navy or baby) blue and grey. It’s easy to match and looks good (on me). I will mix in some brown and pink, but keep those at minimum. Blue and grey are basic, yes. But they are also stylish and work, so why mess with an easy and good thing?
Really wanting a (blue) cutaway oxford.
