Golf While Waiting for Suits

Line of Golfers
When I was trying to make BogeyPutts.com the next great golf source online, I tried to get an interview with Will MacKenzie because I was fascinated by his story: a talented junior golfer who got burnt out, quit, traveled by van to find the best surf/skate/snow spots, fell in love with golf again, turned pro…
Yes, he was also a member of the golf team, but he played in tennis shoes.
AND his middle name is Ruggles. A bit more digging reveals a profile by Outside Magazine.
after a semester stint at a local college, MacKenzie took the money he’d saved up washing dishes and selling grilled-cheese sandwiches at Grateful Dead shows and headed west, kicking off his strange odyssey to the PGA Tour. Only later, when he was 25 and diagnosed with ADD, did he have an explanation for his academic struggles.
It appears that Ryan Moore is wearing golf shoes from True Linkswear. In a trend of his that puts his performance right in line with his earnings, Moore purchased a portion of True Linkswear to promote and wear the brand (one he believes in). The shoes look great. I had been curious about the shoes myself. In fact, when I was at the Memorial a couple of weeks ago, I picked up a pair of the ECCO Street Premier (brown).
I should note here that the other brand Moore has a “deal” with is Scratch Golf. I’ve had a Scratch Golf wedge in my bag for the last 6 years and love it. So, I can deduce that Moore has good taste.
Columbia University golf program has won the Ivy League championship the last three years but has done so without any course on campus. Using (mostly) golf simulators and chipping on the football field, the team has put quite a record together.
First he’s driving through Krispy Kreme (in the Green Jacket!). Now Phil Mickelson is all about Five Guys Burgers.
“I’m going to do the same thing I did the last five days – go to Five Guys burgers,” Mickelson said after making seven birdies. “Sixth day in a row. I can’t stop going there.”?
Phil is quickly becoming my favorite golfer. Who needs protein shakes? Donuts and burgers for us!
I can’t decide if I think Ben Crane’s mental approach to the game of golf is on a whole new level or if I want to tell him to “quit thinking and hit damn the ball”. I think it’s no coincidence that he is one of the PGA Tour’s slowest players.
“Now the left brain really should be retired, and then the right brain you should just relax and try to execute through there,’” Crane explained. “So then it should be very quiet through my brain, just going through my alignment checks, my waggle progression — hopefully that’s not too long — and then the imprint, which is just rehearsing as if I had done it perfectly.”
