Zach Galifianakis has expressed an interest in playing A Confederacy of Dunces main character Ignatius Reilly. There may not be an actor more tailor-made for a part. Dunces is one of my favorite books and Galifianakis is one of my favorite comedians. *fingers crossed*

The Social Network is set to hit theaters October 1. I’m pretty excited to see it. With the release upcoming, two of the founders of Facebook have been profiled. Sean Parker was covered by Vanity Fair and Mark Zuckerberg was profiled by the New Yorker. Great reads. I found the one on Parker to be more interesting as I didn’t know much about him.

Jack Kerouac fans, unite! A documentary One Fast Move or I’m Gone: Kerouac’s Big Sur is set to release October 20, 2010, the day before the 40th anniversary of Kerouac’s death. It will also be released on DVD that same day and you have the option to buy the sound track as put together by Ben Gibbard (with Jay Farrar and Son Volt). The album has taken lyrics taken from Kerouac’s 1962 novel Big Sur. Check out the video for “San Francisco”.

On a side note, I walked by “Jack Kerouac Way” every morning on the way to On the Fly. No real story or relevance (other than the it’s the same guy!); I’m just saying.

While I spent the month of December in San Francisco, I was able to carve out a bit of time to see Tom Ford’s A Single Man (along with Fantastic Mr. Fox – both just ooze with style). I loved it (both). Not really a whole lot to say (Roger Ebert has a nice review). My main point to the whole post here is to show the poster which I think is brilliant.

A couple other reference(s) on Tom Ford. Charlie Rose has a great interview with him about the movie. And, lastly, the dude is cool. Just check out the soap on a rope by Tom Ford. And, if you’re the type who likes to read the book before you see the movie (trailer), it’s based on the book, A Single Man!

Add The Greenhorns to the growing list of food documentaries I’m planning to see.

Add one more to the growing list of documentaries on food I want to see. Fresh focuses on the people who are re-inventing the way we think about our food system.

The New York Times and Esquire both profile comedian Zach Galifianakis who stars in The Hangover. I first became a fan of his from the Kanye West video, Can’t Tell Me Nothing.

Jason Kottke has re-published an article by Matt Bucher where he compares The Royal Tenenbaums with Infinite Jest. I haven’t read Infinite Jest, but with David Foster Wallace’s passing this past year, I’ve got it high on my list. The Royal Tenenbaums is easily one of my favorite movies.
