Great Design Creates Trust
Monday, February 28th, 2011Love this bit on Square and how the design of a product can equate trust. It takes something I’m completely obsessed with (design) and blends it with some of my professional experience (audit and security).
“Design matters in security–the more well constructed a product is, the more people trust it. If you see a broken window on a storefront, you think that store is kind of sketchy.” That’s especially important for a new market technology like Square, which consumers might be less willing to swipe their credit cards through on some random mom-and-pop store’s iPad. “If something looks well designed, it appeals to people,” he adds. “They understand that a lot of care went into it, and that helps–it’s the best way to ease concerns.”
